Privacy Policy
Remote Desktop · com.remote.desktop
Remote Desktop (“the app”) turns your Android phone into a wireless keyboard, mouse and remote control for your own Windows PC. This policy explains what the app does with information. In short: we do not collect, store, sell or share your personal data.
1. Information we collect
None. The app has no accounts, no sign-up, no advertising, no analytics and no crash-reporting or tracking libraries. The developer never receives your keystrokes, mouse movements, commands, files, clipboard contents, IP address or any other personal information.
2. How the app works and what stays on your devices
- When you start the server, the app runs a small web server on your phone (default port 8080).
- The app creates a new random access token each time the server starts. A PowerShell command containing that token is shown in the app; running it on your PC connects the PC to your phone.
- Text you type, mouse and keyboard actions, shortcuts, terminal commands, media and system commands (lock, sleep, restart, shutdown) travel directly between your phone and your PC over a WebSocket connection that you set up.
- This data is used only to perform the action you requested on your PC. The app does not save it and does not send it to the developer or to any third-party server operated by us.
- The app can copy the generated PowerShell command to your clipboard when you tap “copy”. It does not read the clipboard.
3. Connection methods
| Method | What happens to your data |
|---|---|
| LAN (same Wi-Fi) | Traffic stays inside your local network between your phone and your PC. |
| USB | Traffic goes over your USB cable (for example through adb reverse) between your phone and your PC. |
| Global (optional) | If you turn this on, the app uses a free Cloudflare “quick tunnel” (the bundled cloudflared program). Your connection is routed through Cloudflare’s network so your PC can reach your phone from the internet. Cloudflare processes this traffic and its own privacy policy applies. This feature is off unless you enable it. |
| QR code | The QR code only contains the connection link. Scanning it on the PC starts the same connection as above. |
4. Security
- A new random token is generated every time the server starts. Connections without the correct token are refused.
- Global tunnel links use a longer token, and wrong tokens are locked out.
- For QR connections the PC can ask you to approve (“Allow?”) before it connects.
- You can stop the server at any time from the app or from the notification; the connection then ends.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Only connect to PCs you own or are authorised to control, and do not share your connection command or QR code with other people.
5. Android permissions
| Permission | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
INTERNET | Run the local server and, if you enable it, the global Cloudflare tunnel. |
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | Find your phone’s current Wi-Fi/LAN address to build the connection command. |
FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC | Keep the server running while the app is in the background; a notification is shown while it runs. |
POST_NOTIFICATIONS | Show the “server running” notification (Android 13 and later). |
WAKE_LOCK | Keep the connection alive while the screen is off. |
The app does not request access to your contacts, location, camera, microphone, photos, files or SMS.
6. Data retention and deletion
The developer holds no data about you, so there is nothing to delete on our side. Settings and temporary files created by the app stay on your phone and are removed when you uninstall the app.
7. Children’s privacy
The app is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
8. Third-party services
The only third-party service the app can use is Cloudflare, and only when you enable the Global connection (see section 3). The app contains no advertising or analytics SDKs.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new effective date.
